Christmas QP

 

Winter in the Algarve feels a little different. The sun shines on, the days are mild, and Christmas arrives with a relaxed coastal vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else. This is the season where you can wander through Christmas markets with a cup of hot mulled wine under blue skies, enjoy cosy festive meals, and end the year with open-air concerts on the beach.

Here are some of our QP Savills selected favourite events happening this winter.

 

Festive Dining & Seasonal Experiences

 

Advent Sunday Roast at Dano’s – Quinta do Lago | Every Sunday, 7 – 28 December | 12 pm – 4 pm

Sunday roasts with a festive twist, perfect for families or friends seeking comforting flavours and laid-back Christmas vibes. Expect kids’ festive entertainment and weekly Christmas workshops with crafts, games and creative activities.

 


Christmas Brunch at Bovino Steakhouse – Quinta do Lago | 25 December | 12.30 pm – 6 pm

Celebrate Christmas Day with a festive brunch complete with seasonal dishes and live music. Children can enjoy face painting, glitter bar, balloon modelling, a bouncy castle and creative workshops.

 


Christmas at The Magnolia Hotel – Quinta do Lago | 25 December | 12.30 pm onwards

A warm, laid-back Christmas celebration. Enjoy a set-menu lunch, then return in the evening for a festive buffet dinner filled with holiday flavours and good cheer.

 


Algarve Chamber Music Festival – Cineteatro Louletano | 9 January | 9pm

This exceptional evening will launch the new  Algarve Chamber Music Festival, an annual event bringing internationally renowned musicians to the Algarve. As a non-profit undertaking, any profits will go to local music-teaching institutions.

 

 

Christmas Markets & Seasonal Festivities

Across towns and villages, streets transform with lights, markets pop up with crafts and treats, and communities come together for parades, workshops and family activities. Whether you’re searching for handmade gifts, live entertainment or festive outings with the kids, the region offers plenty of ways to enjoy the holiday spirit in the sunshine.

Join us for friendly company, engaging chats, holiday cheer, and a spread of festive treats. 

 


Christmas in Lagos 2025 | 29 November – 10 January

Praça do Infante becomes the heart of a magical Christmas Bay, complete with Santa’s House, a Christmas Village, festive markets, shows, workshops, and storytelling. A wonderful celebration for families. Don’t miss the traditional Motorcycle Santa Parade on December 14th at 1pm!

 


Christmas in Faro | 29 November – 25 December | 10 am – 7 pm

Downtown Faro lights up for the season with music, entertainment, festive decorations and activities for the whole family. A bright and cheerful holiday atmosphere in the city centre. 

 


Christmas in Monchique | 1 December – 8 January 

Monchique celebrates “Monchique Natal” with a month of activities including a Christmas market, street theatre, circus acts, concerts, contests, wooden nativity scenes, carousel rides and live festive music.

 


Natalândia at Zoo de Lagos – Lagos | 5 – 24 December | 10 am – 5 pm

Zoo de Lagos invites families to a festive experience filled with seasonal decorations, animal encounters and Christmas activities for children.

 


Living Statues at Christmas 11th Edition – Lagoa | 12 – 13 December 

A standout moment in Lagoa’s festive calendar, showcasing some of Portugal’s best living statue artists in a truly enchanting holiday atmosphere.

 


Vila Vita Christmas Market – Vila Vita Parc | 19 – 21 December | 2 pm – 7 pm 

Stroll through elegant boutiques at the Piazzetta and enjoy festive treats including mulled wine, teas and local specialties. Entertainment for all ages in a luxurious seasonal setting.

 

 

New Year’s Eve Celebrations

As the year comes to an end, the Algarve fills with music, fireworks and gatherings from city squares to beachside promenades. From elegant gala dinners to lively open-air concerts, there are countless ways to welcome 2026.

 

 

Réveillon Julio Iglesias Experience – Vilamoura | 31 December | 7 pm | From 530€

Tivoli Marina Vilamoura hosts a gala dinner and exclusive show by Julio Iglesias Jr. followed by fireworks, DJ, open bar and late-night dining. Includes overnight stay and New Year’s Day brunch.

 


New Year’s Eve in Olhão – Jardim Pescador Olhanense | 31 December | From 10.30 pm | Free entry

The night begins with live music, followed by midnight fireworks along the Ria Formosa.

 


New Year’s Eve in Faro – Faro Downtown | 31 December | From 9 pm | Free entry

Faro rings in the new year with concerts, outdoor celebrations and fireworks in the heart of the city.

 


New Year’s Eve in Lagos – Praça do Infante | 31 December | From 10.30 pm | Free entry

Step into 2026 with the Algarve’s longest fireworks display at midnight, followed by live music into the early hours. 

 


 

The Algarve shines in winter, not just for its weather, but for the spirit and community that fill each town. With festive markets, family events and lively New Year celebrations, there are so many ways to enjoy this season together.
