Portugal has been awarded the World’s and Europe’s Best Golf Destination 2014 in a ceremony held on November 15 at the Conrad Algarve in Quinta do Lago.
The award was received by the Algarve’s regional tourism chief, Desidério Silva, who said “It is a huge privilege to accept two extremely important golf awards on behalf of the country, especially knowing that the Algarve’s golf courses played a huge role in the choice,”
St Andrews Links-Old Course in Scotland was nominated World’s Best Golf Course and The Els Club Teluk Datai in Malaysia for World’s Best New Golf Course.
The event was considered a “tremendous success” by managing director Chris Frost, who confirmed next year’s gala will once again take place at the hotel Conrad Algarve.
